About the island of Corsica

Corsica is located about 100 miles south of Nice, France, and 100 miles west of the Italian Riviera. It is the birthplace of Napoleon (his mother, Letizia, is said to have slept at Le Manoir). It's coastline Corsica, off the coast of Francehas white sand beaches and rocky coves. The Genoese built a series of signal towers that surround the island before they sold it to France in 1763. The island's center is dominated by mountains as high as 10,000 feet with Bastelica being at 2,400 feet.

Corsica is one of the few unspoiled spots in Europe. The village of Bastelica is only 26 miles from the capitol city of Ajaccio and it's airport Campo del Oro. Narrow passages wing from neighborhood to neighborhood in this medieval village. The sound of mountain streams backdrop the sounds of chickens, goats and pigs that sometimes wander through the streets. The Church bell on the plaza marks the time.

Life is slow. Life is natural.
